The first year of Ganesha Sadhana begins with the teachings of Maharishi Mudgal (Ganesha Purana).
Sadhana Plan
Year 1:
Ganesha [Believer] – Long life, freedom from all diseases, path to knowledge, and removal of all troubles and obstacles in life
Parashara Mantra – Incorporating the teachings of Parashara [This is a mantra very specific to Parashara]… You will learn more about this when we conduct contact classes.
Year 2: Surya Upasana – Dashakshari Mantra for great success and prosperity, Navagraha Puja
Year 3: Krishna Mantra Sadhana – Karmayogi [Recommended only by Parashara – for astrology purposes]
Simple Procedure
Asana
Aasthik Mantra
ॐ ह्रुं चैतन्याय नमः | om hruṁ chaitanyāya namaḥ
-
- Ganesha is the bestower of faith and dispels doubts and evils caused by Rahu and the Tamasic planets.
He is seated on a Swastika Mandala.
Mandal Mantra – Swastikaya Namaha | Draw this on a piece of paper or draw lines with red vermillion on the wall at eye level in the eastern part of your room so that you can see it and sit and chant the mantra.Spread a mat in front of the picture of Shri Ganesha and place the picture at eye level so that you do not have to look down. Looking at the same level or upward is beneficial. Sit facing east in a posture that you are comfortable with.Light a ghee lamp in front of the picture or yantra of Ganesha and chant the following mantra:
- Ganesha is the bestower of faith and dispels doubts and evils caused by Rahu and the Tamasic planets.
Now read the Viniyog below :
सोऽहं बीजं स्वाहा शक्तिः ममाभीष्टसिद्धये जपे विनियोगः।
om asya śrī gaṇeśa mantrasya mudgala ṛṣiḥ virāj chandaḥ gaṇeso devatā
so’haṁ bījaṁ svāhā śaktiḥ mamābhīṣṭasiddhaye jape viniyogaḥ|
आचमनम् (Achamanam)
This is a process of purifying the soul, which is responsible for performing some good deeds, and it is necessary to be purified to receive the benefits of chanting and meditation.
Take a little water (from a clean vessel kept nearby) in your right palm and swallow it while chanting a mantra. Wash your palm with the water, wipe your lips with the clean palm, and then wash your palm again.
acyutāya namaḥ | anantāya namaḥ | govindāya namaḥ
ऋष्यादि न्यास Rishiadi Nyasa
Nyasa is the process by which the sounds associated with a mantra (or its deity) are placed on specific body parts. In Rishi and other Nyasa, the mantra—the Rishi, the mantra verse, the deity, the seed, and the Shakti—are placed on corresponding points of the body.
| ॐ मुद्गलाय ऋषये नमः शिरसि | om mudgalāya ṛṣaye namaḥ śirasi | Touch the head at Shikha |
| ॐ विराट छन्दसे नमः मुखे | om virāṭ chandase namaḥ mukhe | Touch Lips |
| ॐ गणराज देवतायै नमः हृदये | om gaṇarāja devatāyai namaḥ hṛdaye | Touch Chest |
| ॐ सोऽहं बीजाय नमः गुह्ये | om so’haṁ bījāya namaḥ guhye | Touch between the groin |
| ॐ स्वाहा शक्तये नमः पादयोः | om svāhā śaktaye namaḥ pādayoḥ | Touch Left Foot |
Shadanga Nyasa
This is the process of establishing mantra sounds or seeds (including elements) in the six parts of the body. This is the true protection of the body. If this is done before chanting mantras, the body is protected from any evil, disease, and suffering.
| ॐ ग्रां हृदयाय नमः | om grāṁ hṛdayāya namaḥ [pṛthvi] | Touch Chest |
| ॐ ग्रीं शिरसे स्वाहा | om grīṁ śirase svāhā [jala] | Touch the head at shikha |
| ॐ ग्रूं शिखायै वषट | om grūṁ śikhāyai vaṣaṭ [agni] | Touch the head at shikha |
| ॐ ग्रैं कवचाय हुं | om graiṁ kavacāya huṁ [vāyu] | Touch Chest with crossed hands |
| ॐ ग्रौं नेत्र-त्रयाय वौषट | om grauṁ netra-trayāya vauṣaṭ [ākāśa] | Touch the three eyes with three fingers |
| ॐ ग्रः अस्त्राय फट | om graḥ astrāya phaṭ [manas] | Move the palms three times, and then touched three fingers of right hand on left palm. |
Mala
A small (not too small) Rudraksha Mala with 54 beads is a good mala. While chanting each mantra, use your middle finger and thumb to push the beads away from your body, never going past the head bead. Turn the mala using your middle finger and ring finger. This will become easier with a little practice. The index finger, called “Tarjani,” should never touch the mala. This angers the deity, which is against this sadhana. Ganaraja Sadhana is an extremely peaceful sadhana that completely calms the mind.
Choose the same mala you would use for any other sadhana, as this mantra will support the other mantras and deity as well. The best mala is one made of coral beads, but these can be expensive. Besides crystal, Rudraksha beads are also very auspicious.
Mantra
Choose a name from the 12 Ganesha names selected by Sri Narada or from another list based on your ascendant.
Ganesha Siddha Mantra
In the morning, sit facing east and place a pen and a copy of the BPHS (four-pointed swastika or a picture of Ganesha) in front of Lord Ganesha.
You must decide whether you will chant this mantra 108 times daily, or those of you prepared for rigorous sadhana should chant 15 rounds daily, except on the Chaturthi of each month, when you chant 22 rounds. This is a very large number of mantras. Furthermore, the duration of sadhana is one year, from one Ganesh Puja to the next. But the fruits of this sadhana are extremely delicious. If you can accept this challenge and remain determined, it will, in addition to all other benefits, give you tremendous confidence in this subject. You can become an expert in astrology.
Like all scriptures and the teachings of Thakur Ramakrishna, chanting is the penance of Kaliyuga. There is no other path to penance. If you decide to accept the challenge of chanting 600,000 mantras in a year at the suggested rate (15 rounds daily + 22 rounds on Chaturthi), please write to me privately.
Don’t ask me any more questions. Note: Select the mantra based on the ascendant only.
