नक्षत्रपादैः राशिविचारः।
nakṣatrapādaiḥ rāśivicāraḥ |
Translation: The signs were created from the pada of the nakşatra (constellations). Every naksatra has four pada each measuring 3°20′. The span of naksatra is 4×3°20’=13°20. The span of a rasi is 30°. Nine nakşatra-pada join to create a rasi 9×3°20’=30°. The important concept explained here is the power of mind over matter. The 360° nakşatra-belt is called the bha-chakra, and the zodiac is derived from this bha-chakra of the naksatra. In other words, naksatra chakra is creator of the rasi chakra. By implication, the mind which works through the nakşatra chakra is superior to the body and all matter that is created through the rasi chakra.
अश्विनी भरणी कृत्तिका पादमेकं मेषः १
aśvinī bharaṇī kṛttikā pādamekaṁ meṣaḥ (1)
Translation: The four pada of Asvini and Bharani join with the first pada of Kritika to create Meșa (Aries)
कृत्तिकायास्त्रयः पादा रोहिणी मृगशिरार्द्धं वृषभः २
kṛttikāyāstrayaḥ pādā rohiṇī mṛgaśirārddhaṁ vṛṣabhaḥ (2)
Translation: Three pada of Kritika, Four pada of Rohini join with the first two pada of Mrigasira (half Mrgasira) to create vrisabha (Taurus)
मृगशिरार्द्धमार्द्रा पुनर्वसुपादत्रयं मिथुनः ३
mṛgaśirārddhamārdrā punarvasupādatrayaṁ mithunaḥ (3)
Translation: Half of Mrgasiras (Two pada), Ardra four pada join with first three pada of Punarvasu to form Mithuna (Gemini).
पुनर्वसुपादमेकं पुष्पमाश्लेषान्तं कर्कः ४
punarvasupādamekaṁ puṣpamāśleṣāntaṁ karkaḥ (4)
Translation: The Last pada of Punarvasu and four pada each of Puşya and Asleşa join to form Karkața (Cancer).
मघा च पूर्वाफल्गुनी उत्तराफाल्गुनी पादमेकं सिंहः ५
maghā ca pūrvāphalgunī uttarāphālgunī pādamekaṁ siṁhaḥ (5)
Translation: The four pada of Magha and Purva Phalguni join with the first pada of Uttara Phalguni to create Simha (Leo).
उत्तराफाल्गुन्यास्त्रयः पादा हस्तश्चित्रार्द्धं कन्या ६
uttarāphālgunyāstrayaḥ pādā hastaścitrārddhaṁ kanyā (6)
Translation: Three pada of Uttara Phalguni, Four pada of Hasta join with the first two pada of Chitra (half Chitra) to create Kanya rasi.
चित्रार्द्धं स्वाती विशाखापादत्रयं तुला ७
citrārddhaṁ svātī viśākhāpādatrayaṁ tulā (7)
Translation: Half of Chitra (Two pada), Svati (four pada) join with first three pada of Visakha to form Tula (Libra).
विशाखापादमेकमनुराधा ज्येष्ठान्तं वृश्चिकः ८
viśākhāpādamekamanurādhā jyeṣṭhāntaṁ vṛścikaḥ (8)
Translation: The Last pada of Visakha and four pada each of Anuradha and Jyeştha join to form Vrscika (Scorpio).
मूलं च पूर्वाषाढोत्तराषाढापादमेकं धनुः ९
mūlaṁ ca pūrvāṣāḍhottarāṣāḍhāpādamekaṁ dhanuḥ (9)
Translation: The four pada of Mula and Purva Asadha join with the first pada of Uttarasadha to create Dhanus (Sagittarius)
उत्तरायास्त्रयः पादाः श्रवणं धनिष्ठार्द्ध मकरः १०
uttarāyāstrayaḥ pādāḥ śravaṇaṁ dhaniṣṭhārddha makaraḥ (10)
Translation: Three pada of Uttarasadha, Four pada of Sravana join with the irst two pada of Dhaniştha (half Dhaniştha) to create Makara (Capricorn)
धनिष्ठार्द्ध शतभिषापूर्वाभाद्रपदा पादत्रयं कुंभः ११
dhaniṣṭhārddha śatabhiṣāpūrvābhādrapadā pādatrayaṁ kuṁbhaḥ (11)
Translation: Half of Dhanistha (two pada), Satabhisa four pada join with first three pada of Purva Bhadrapada to form Kumbha (Aquarius)
पूर्वाभाद्रपदा पादमेकमुत्तराभाद्रपदा जेवत्यन्तं मीनः १२
pūrvābhādrapadā pādamekamuttarābhādrapadā jevatyantaṁ mīnaḥ (12)
Translation: The Last pada of Purva Bhadrapada and four pada each of Uttara Bhadrapada and Revati join to form Mina (Pisces).
Lesson
The zodiac signs are made up of constellations. Therefore, if the constellations are fixed, the true zodiac signs must also be fixed. This creates fixed sidereal zodiac signs. The tropical zodiac is an observable phenomenon based on seasons, rainfall, etc. The main reason for this is the Sun’s movement through the tropics, which is also an illusion.
