Rista ( Others)

 Sanjay Rath  18 September 2013

Rista (affliction) is not limited solely to the native; it extends also to the mother—particularly during childbirth—as well as to siblings, parents, and elders. Parashara teaches us various principles regarding specific Yogas (planetary combinations) for determining inauspiciousness concerning the parents. The Durmantra Yoga described in the previous lesson is of particular interest; in this configuration, an afflicted Moon situated in the 5th House may cause the death of the mother rather than the native, precisely because it is not positioned in the 1st, 7th, 3rd, or 9th Houses. When situated in the 5th House, this Moon acts as a Maraka (death-inflicting planet)—specifically the 2nd House—relative to the 4th House, which represents the mother.

From this, we derive three significant principles:

Rishta (Evil)

 Sanjay Rath  18 September 2013

The longevity of a horoscope (prediction of lifespan) should not be stated until the completion of the 24th year, which is considered the period of Janma-Rishta (birth affliction).

— Maharishi Parashara

Baal-Rishta » up to 12 years | Afflictions related to the Moon as significator
Yoga-Rishta » up to 20 years | Afflictions related to Jupiter as significator
Janma-Rishta » up to 24 years | Afflictions related to the Sun as significator

Study the following texts carefully to understand how to identify Rishta (afflictions) in a horoscope:

Malefic houses (Dusthana) affecting the Moon
Retrograde planets in malefic houses
Evil combinations (Durmantra)
Three-malefic and four-malefic combinations
Maraka (death-inflicting) positions
Interpretation of other yogas
Dark/afflicted Moon (Tamas Chandra)
Destructive combinations (Vinash Yoga)
Half chart (Ardha Chakra)
Shadow of the Sun, etc.

Apart from BPHS (Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra), you should also study:

Tripataki Chakra

Keep in mind that understanding Neshta Karma and NeshtaGraha requires deep knowledge, as these factors can either make married life  (pleasant) and life a wonderful experience, or the opposite—turning it into a kind of hell.

Sutika

 Sanjay Rath  18 September 2013

The morning heralds the day… this forms the very basis of Parashara’s Chapter on Postnatal Care(Chapter on Childbirth). The detailed circumstances surrounding a child’s birth reveal a great deal about the destiny and blessings (or lack thereof) associated with that birth. In modern settings, it may not be feasible to utilize indicators such as “the direction of the lamp”; however, numerous other factors exist—such as the number of people present in the birth chamber—which are signified by the “planets situated between the Ascendant and the Moon.” For instance, a Moon positioned in the Taurus Ascendant—situated slightly ahead of the Ascendant degree—signifies the birth of Lord Krishna within the confines of a solitary prison cell
